Tabletop Loom

Tabletop Loom

Our half-size loom is suitable for use on a table or sat on the floor.  It is convenient for demonstration and learning, and is well proportioned to illustrate the proportions of a more unwieldy full sized version.
This loom is approximately 42”(110cm) high by 40”(100cm) wide. Weaving area is roughly 28”(70cm) wide with a depth of 29” (74cm) from beam to beam. Dimensions may vary sightly depending on material availability and quality.

Their design is based on the Scandinavian traditional loom, which is the closest we have to

historical Northern European looms, and are considered “historically plausible”. They are free-standing, which is not historically likely, as a compromise between historical evidence and usability in re-enactment and historical interpretation. They are designed to be very stable and safe around public in a field; having modern bolts attaching the shed beam (bottom cross piece) to the uprights, but hidden from view, and collapse flat for transport

Our looms are handmade from British hardwood, usually oak, ash or beech, depending on what is available.
